What is a Swedish Massage?
Swedish Massage is a light, gentle, relaxing massage. It was believed that Swedish Massage originated in Sweden in the 1800’s, hence the name, although there is much debate about its origins now. For any therapist wanting to learn massage they must first embark on learning Swedish Massage, also known as classical massage. The treatment may either be a full body or specific to an area e.g. back, neck and shoulder.
Why get a Swedish Massage?
Swedish Massage is wonderfully relaxing, its light, gentle approach makes it ideal for a little ‘time out’, a chance to truly unwind. The therapist uses a variety of techniques to release and relieve tight, fatigued muscles, warming the area and smoothing out muscular tension. You will feel lighter and have a greater ease in movement, many patients find that they sleep much deeper after a Swedish Massage. The skin's natural functions will be stimulated improving the condition of the skin and the warmth created will help relax the body physically and mentally.
What is involved in a Swedish Massage?
Before your Swedish Massage you will be expected to complete an intake form, outlining what it is that you would like your therapist to focus on during the session. The therapist will then discuss with you what you are looking to achieve, form a treatment plan and work on the area accordingly. Our therapists use combinations of oils, balms and creams to suit you as an individual.
