What is Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep Tissue Massage is a very firm, focused massage, much deeper than Swedish Massage, but not as deep as our Sports Massage treatment. Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. The aim is to release tension within the body, un-sticking muscle fibers, releasing deep tension and relieve chronic muscle aches and pains.
Deep Tissue Massage can be used as a full body massage, or more specifically to a certain area (back, neck, legs, gluteus muscles etc.) of the body. The treatment can at times be uncomfortable and may leave you feeling a little tender and sore during or after the massage, this will ease up within a few days and will be completely dependent on the area treated, how chronic the condition was and whether it is your first or subsequent treatments.
Why get a Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep Tissue Massage is a fantastic way of looking after your health, reducing muscular tensions and helping to deal with stress, you will also feel amazing after your treatment; relaxed, easier in your movement and with less discomfort than before the treatment began.
When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly.
What is involved in a Deep Tissue Massage Treatment
Before your Deep Tissue Massage you will be expected to complete an intake form, outlining what it is that you would like your therapist to focus on during the session. The therapist will then discuss with you what you are looking to achieve, form a treatment plan and work on the area accordingly. You also may be given homework to help ease your discomfort and recommended, if necessary, how many subsequent treatments are required. Our therapists use combinations of oils, balms and creams to suit you as an individual.
