Nutrition Plan to help Reduce Inflammation

Beneficial foods to eat daily try to eat these as much as you can with your meals

  • Eat natural foods in their natural state and you really cannot go wrong. Nature will always prove us wrong if needed!!
  • Don’t be fooled by so called ‘healthy foods’ check the labels and know what you’re eating.
  • The first 3 listed ingredients on the label is what that food is predominantly made of.
  • Eat organic where ever possible to avoid excess hormones. Feel non organic fruit and veg to remove excess pesticides.
  • Water - 1.5-2 litres throughout the day
  • 1 slice Pineapple 20 min’s before meals to aid digestion and break down of food. It also contains quercetin a natural antihistamine and anti-inflammatory
  • Have at least 5 portions of vegetables per day. Raw is great as there are many live enzymes in them. Slow cooked and steamed would be next.
  • Alfalfa sprouts aubergines, brussel sprouts, broccoli carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, cooked tomatoes, cucumber, kale, pumpkin, red cabbage, spinach, watercress,
  • Fresh Fruit - 1 handful of apricots, blueberries, kiwi , mangos, peaches, red grapes (1 handful),
  • High magnesium foods to help the body relax and aid hormonal balance - Green leafy vegetables, almonds, pumpkin seeds are especially high.
  • High Vitamin E foods (antioxidant) - Avocado, raw unsalted nuts & seeds,
  • High Vitamin C foods (antioxidant)- Broccoli, peppers, berries - highest antioxidant foods to protect every cell
  • High zinc foods - oysters, eggs, brazil nuts
  • Garlic, turmeric, cumin, ginger - all very good for reducing inflammation. 1 teaspoon size at least daily. They are great with fish or mix into some goats, sheep’s yogurt and you have a great healthy curry dish.
  • Oily Fish is great for essential fatty acids - small deep sea are better, anchovies, herring, kippers, salmon, sardines in tin is fine. You must aim for aim for at least 5 serves of this per week.
  • Turkey and chicken are great alternatives to red meat
  • Wheat germ - sprinkle 1 tablespoon onto food daily for a natural source of Vitamin E
  • Oat bran - sprinkle 1 tablespoon onto food daily, to help reduce heart disease and add fibre
  • Loose herb green tea is great, you can put this into a strainer and get great benefits, 2-4 cups daily
  • Pau de Arco tea 4 cups daily is great for the prostate
  • Nettle tea is great for irritation on urination – 4 cups at least per day
  • Eating enough fibre and supporting the Liver is essential when treating inflammation to ensure toxic waste is being dealt with properly and excreted from the body.
  • Check for food intolerances as they be aggravating the issue
 
Foods to Avoid - immune-suppressing or potentially irritating substances such as:
  • Alcohol –Good red wine ok when sipped as high in antioxidants
  • All Cow products
  • Artificial sweeteners, additives, colourings as the body will hold onto them.
  • Cooking with olive oil as the oils composition is changed and causes oxidative damage use coconut butter or goats butter
  • Cured / smoked meats, canned meat
  • Fast foods
  • Fizzy drinks
  • Fried foods
  • GM and non-organic foods
  • Grapefruit – if on medications as it will inhibit the medication in the liver
  • Margarines- as contains hydrogenated fats which congest the heart and increase cholesterol, use Goats butter or avocado
  • Microwaving
  • Obvious sugar - sweets, chocolate, biscuits, cakes
  • Pastries
  • Peanuts
  • Pies
  • Ready-made meals
  • Red meat - beef, lamb, pork, sausages,
  • Refined carbohydrates, bread, breakfast cereals, pasta, processed foods - stimulate clumping of the blood platelets.
  • Salt / sodium - use sea salt
  • Saturated & hydrogenated fats - check the labels
  • Stimulants - Black tea, coffee, sports drinks, cigarettes, alcohol
  • Wheat
  • White Wine Vinegar - apple cider is great though

  • Essential Vitamins. Always ensure you get good quality supplements. Some shops will sell supplements very cheaply this will reflect the quality and the standards measured when creating the supplement.
  • Vitamins B3, B5 and B6, biotin, Selenium, vitamin C, zinc and magnesium. Taking a good multi vitamin will ensure you are getting all these nutrients he right balance.
  • Essential fatty acids are also vital in helping to reduce inflammation: Omega Berry from Bio Care – contains high amounts of fish oil (omega 3 and antioxidants)
  • Acidophilus - helps to reduce the inflammation response in the body. Essential to take after a course of antibiotics to replace gut flora. Take for 6 months at least
